Bachelor of Secretaryship & Management Studies 

Requirements for the programme

A.      Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinations (SSSCE):

Credit passes (A-D) in six subjects comprising three core subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science or Social Studies plus any three (3) Elective subjects relevant to the programme.

B.      West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE):

Credit passes (A1-C6) in six subjects comprising three core subjects, including English, Mathematics, and Integrated Science or Social Studies plus any three elective subjects relevant to the programme.

C.      General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE):

Passes in three (3) subjects at least, one of the passes should be Grade D or better. Also, the applicant must have had credit passes (Grade 6) in five GBCE Ordinary level subjects including Business Law, Economics and Mathematics.

D.      General Certificate of Education (GCE) Ordinary Level:

Passes in three (3) subjects at least, one of the passes should be Grade D or better. Also, the applicant must have had credit passes in five (5) GCE Ordinary level subjects including English Language, and Mathematics, plus any three (3) subjects relevant to the program, in addition to passing an entrance examination and or interview, OR

General Certificate of Education GCE) Advanced Level:

Holders with credit in at least five (5) subjects at the GCE O level or its equivalent including English Language and Mathematics, plus at least two passes in the relevant subjects at the advanced level (Geography, Economics, Agricultural Science, History, Accounting).

E.      CTVET/Certificate II Holders:

Credit passes in six subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Social Studies, plus any three (3) elective subjects relevant to the programme.

 

 

 

F.      Higher National Diploma (HND) / Diploma:

Candidates must have graduated in the following or similar programmes:

1.       HND applicant must have graduated with a good certificate (ie. at least 2nd Class Lower Division).

2.       A tertiary diploma in Secretaryship and Management Studies or related Management discipline from an accredited/recognized institution with a good certificate (i.e. at least 3rd   Class Lower Division).

3.       A diploma in Secretaryship and Management Studies or related Management Discipline with a Pass from an accredited/recognised institution with at least 2 years’ relevant working experience subject to passing an entrance examination or interview.

4.       A certificate in Secretaryship and Management Studies or related Management Discipline from an accredited/recognised institution with at least 8 years’ relevant working experience subject to passing an entrance examination and interview

5.       Institute of Chattered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA) -Part II

6.       All professional certificates and any other qualifications beyond the ones specified above shall be referred to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) for the establishment of their equivalences, to determine their eligibility for admission to Ho Technical University.

 

G.      International Applicants

1.         All foreign qualifications shall be referred to the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission to the institution.

2.         Applicants with WAEC qualifications can apply directly to the University.

3.         Evidence of proficiency in English Language will be required in the case of applicants from non -English speaking countries.  International applicants are also requested to acquire Non-Citizens Ecowascard as a pre-requisite for regularization of admission. International applicants who fail to provide evidence of having acquired this card will not have their admissions regularized.
